Andrew at Cannons Fish & Chips became my friend in the first minute or so of our meeting. When he had his first shop nearly ready to start fryin' & grillin' some of the finest fish to land on this Isle, he called me and said, "Can you do this kind of thing properly? Can you do it before the weekend? I want to open on Friday!" That call came Tuesday eve about 8pm... did I mention there was no design yet... :)
With a bit of effort and some sneaky dodging of the rain that week... (always the rain...oh the rain.) I did up the design, came out, painted these Bold Black Capitals on one of the finest examples of a well built British storefront, 56 Cannon Hill in Southgate. That Friday was a well battered, crisp afternoon, and as I cleaned off my brushes, and packed away the gear, some of the first customers started pouring in, delighted with the new addition to their high street! A year and a half later I got the call again, "Crouch End, Mate! It's a perfect spot, and this time we have 6 months till we open." With elegantly evolved Branding based on my original designs, the second space was a pure joy to work on, familiar yet full of surprises... and the fish...OH THE FISH!!!! :)
Fantastic!
